what is $60 Scholarships?

Did you know that $60 could send two children to school for a year? This relatively small fee covers tuition and school supplies for two children in the Burial Grounds of Belize for a year. $60 Scholarships has a simple mission: to provide the opportunity for education to as many kids as possible.

$60 Scholarships is a social enterprise developed by a creative inquiry class in Clemson University. Through on-campus fundraising events and door-to-door donations, we seek to give other people the opportunity we have been so fortunate to receive -- the opportunity for an education. Created from a business writing class in the spring of 2012, $60 Scholarships helps to educate as many children as possible through our double-education model: while we are raising money to send these children to school, the students involved in the class are learning practical, business related skills. So far, we have been able to provide an education for over 30 children in the Burial Grounds.

Mission accomplished.

The March 21-30 trip included opportunities to study monkeys at a Belizean zoo and a single day spent with primary students at nearby La Democracia School, where UW Oshkosh students taught the children about the research they were conducting and about Wisconsin...
